I would also like to add that I have purchased many things from Amazon. I looked at the selection of toasters at my local Wal-Mart (many were the same ones Amazon sells) and there was nothing there that compared to this Calphalon toaster. I know this toaster costs more than the many others, but the cheap toasters are not worth the money. Also, I do not trust that the good regulations that the USA has after years of experience and investigation are being followed by China's manufacturers. citizens need jobs and I would like to support jobs for my country's citizens. It is disappointing to me that it is made in China, because U.S. I purchased this on Februand have us it for 2 months. It has toasted evenly and well for me, the slots are large, the settings are easy to change, and it looks very nice on the counter. Not sure of the complaint on that one.īottom line, great toaster, very happy with the purchase. We run the cable under the unit and out the back toward the outlet without issue. Another thing my wife appreciates as she is not keen with me doing the old method.Īnd I think I saw some comments on cable exit. Why bother? The Calphalon lever is directly connected and I find myself not using butter knife to stab the toast to pull it out. So a firm press resulted in maybe 1/8" of movement up. My old toaster had a press-lever mechanically connected to some sort of a lifter arm, not a direct connection.

When toast is done, if the toast was small, intuitive and simple to pull the lever up to get it to a point I can grab it. I like things that are intuitive and make sense.ģ. What is the point of a backlit LCD screen on the toaster? Its a toaster! I do appliance controls for a living. My wife makes fun of me on things like this, even she admits it is a great toaster. I am an engineer, to me at it's core the product needs to cook even toast, bagels, etc. The Calphalon reviews for this toaster said it toasted well and consistently. I would not hesitate to choose this Calphalon toaster over similarly priced 4 slot toasters by Cuisinart, Krups and Kitchenaid as it has out performed and out lived all of these similarly priced stainless steel toasters.ĭecided on this one after I got sick and tired of nice looking stainless/chrome 4-slot toaster in my kitchen that looked great and toasted poorly. It's the very best in my opinion of the comparable brands out there in a similar price range. Love it to this day.ģ/2015 Update: This toaster still works like a charm and looks perfect. It's a straightforward design that looks and works great. The crumb trays pull out easily to empty out the crumbs. It's our most used small appliance as we use it every single day numerous times. Both sides of the bread get toasted evenly everytime. When we adjust the temperature with the knobs, to this day we get exactly the same results for the adjustment with no surprises. We get consistently excellent results, there are separate controls on each side so different preferences can be accommodated at the same time, both sides toast evenly and it's still going strong after 3 years! It cost a bit more than the others, but it's the best we've tried and the fact it still works perfectly makes the price more than worth it- the others were basically disposable toasters as none lasted very long and none gave consistently great results like the Calphalon. This Calphalon toaster has counter appeal as it looks awesome in the stainless steel and is not super bulky like some of these others have been. The Kitchenaid worked well and lasted longer but gave some uneven results and for the price did not last long enough. Of those, one Cuisinart produced inconsistent results and didn't last long, and the other died within a couple months (and was received as a gift with no receipt included for return). This is our 5th stainless steel toaster in the last few years, and it is absolutely superior in every way to the two Cuisinart, one Krups and one Kitchenaid toaster we owned.
